Ural Mountains: Splits Russia down the middle and is known as the dividing line between
Europe and Asia.
Black Sea: A body of water which can be used as an outlet to reach the Mediterranean Sea
and was a contributing factor in deciding which nation Russia should become allies with.
Immense Size: Due to the vastness of Russia it was difficult to provide news to the people
farther out East.
Harsh Winters: Russian winters are much colder than those in the rest of Europe, so when
Germany invaded they burned down all homes on the western front and left the Germans to
freeze to death.
